Events 2021
Critique Workshop: The challenge of solidarity and Newsreel 80 – Metka, Meki
The participants will discuss the films The challenge of solidarity (Anne Richard, Caroline Darroquy, 2019) and Newsreel 80 – Metka, Meki (Nika Autor, 2021).
They will examine the specifics of the documentary film and discuss the manipulations of perceived reality, and compare the two different approaches to the topic of migration. We will discuss whether the films speak for the migrants, are they able to speak for themselves and why this matters. We will also discuss how we can fit these two films into a wider context of documentaries with this type of subject.
The participants will write their own short reviews of the films, under the mentorship of film critic Petra Meterc. Their texts will be assembled in a combined reflexion which will be published on the web page of the Festival of Migrant Film.
The workshop will take place in the afternoons, during the festival, June 14th – 17th
There is no participation fee; please send your applications to filmskedelavnice.FMF@gmail.com by June 10th.
