We will finish the weekend with poetry, films and Maghreb cuisine

We will finish the weekend in Second Home in Rog. In collaboration with Društvo Gmajna and Second we are preparing an event Migrant Literature Out Loud!. The participants will read poetry in Arabic, Farsi, Kyrgyz, Sorani, Russian, Turkish, Urdu and it’s translations in Slovene or English. With us will also be an award winning poet Barbara Korun and Iraqi writer Sameer Sayegh.

Trees Die Standing

We will finish the evening with the screening of tw short films. Trees Die Standing, by Hoda Siahtiri, hows a short and sensorial glimpse of such life, based on memories and letters of some of them, mainly Gholam Hosein Saedi. Without home, by Samer Arkawi, explores refugees’ backgrounds and situations people are being subjected to in the terms of cultural differences, stereotypes and prejudices in the countries they have migrated to. Refugees explain the situations in their countries and reasons why they had to leave, while Europeans share their perspectives on the refugee situation in Europe.

The screening will attend Samer Arkawi, the author of the film Without home.
