about the film
In the centre of Paris, a 16-year-old boy spends another night outside alone in the bitter cold. Although the French authorities are responsible to provide for minors, regardless of their nationality, he he has been living on the streets for months, waiting for the the hearing before the judge to prove his age. One day, a volunteer welcomes the boy to sleep on his sofa for a week. The next volunteer offers the boy a mattress to sleep on the floor and a good meal… Illegal acts or solidarity gestures ? How long will this civic commitment be viable?

about the authors
In 2010, Anne Richard was the first director who filmed the protagonists of what was to become, a year later, the “Affaire Mediator”, (52’ for Public Senat, selected at the FIPA 2012). After Sciences Po and studies in Germany, Anne starts her carreer by travelling around Europe. She directs some 50′ for ARTE TV programmes, Forum des Européens and Zoom Europa, with the Compagnie des Phares et Balises. A few years later, she goes into the longer format, both in France and abroad for W. A. Productions. She signs in 2002 her first 52’, “Afrique du Sud, le train de l’espoir” (“South Africa, the train of hope”), for ARTE and Odyssée. Freeelance since 2011, it’s the second time she collaborates with Infrarouge for “Solidarity Challenge”.

Caroline Darroquy made her first documentary “Dans la maison des journalistes” (“At the house of journalists”) at the Ateliers Varan in 2008. In her début, which was selected at the documentary festival of Thionville “To display the real”, she talked about welcoming: she filmed Bakthiyar, an Iraqi Kurdish fixer, waiting for political refugee status in France. Then she became interested in editing and cooperated in numerous documentaries and reports for France Télévisions, Arte… In 2016, in a tragic context of the migratory crisis, her solidarity host experience encouraged her to continue her work as a director on this subject. Caroline co-directed and edited Solidarity Challenge, a documentary inspired by her personal background.
